Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall 2014 Dates
LA Fashion Week is already coming around the bend, and based on how the usual schedule plays out (generally beginning the week after Paris Fashion Week), expected dates will be approximately March 7 – 18, 2014.
LA Fashion Week is rarely a literal “week” (much like New York Fashion Week is closer to 10 days, and London is closer to 6 days). In fact, with its independent spirit, LA has more diversity of events and productions that pretty much anywhere else. So we can expect a number of presentations from production entities as far-ranging as Men’s Fashion Week LA, Project Ethos, Africa Fashion Week LA, and many, many independent designers who showcase at galleries and other venues around town.
Much like New York and London, Los Angeles’ fashion week is rarely (if ever) a literal “week.”
Tickets to Los Angeles Fashion Week March 2014How can you buy tickets to LA Fashion Week Fall 2014? Well, that depends entirely on the producer.
Although that list is far from comprehensive, it includes some of Los Angeles’ most established production entities.
The short answer is: Some sell tickets, some do not.
There are, broadly speaking, three types of Los Angeles Fashion Week shows: industry-only, open-to-the-public and “by RSVP” (which often includes a mix).
There are three types of LA Fashion Week shows: industry-only, open-to-the-public and “by RSVP.”
With these types of shows, you’ll have to register in advance on their websites with press credentials, or email them to request access a few weeks before March 2014 (keep an eye on their social media accounts for announcements!).
Project Ethos and Fashion Minga are fan favorites that are open-to-the-public with ticket purchase. But there are many shows that are accessible with ticket purchase.
And then there are free shows that basically require you to email and ask if you can attend. Some of these are for industry people only, others are for “die-hard” fans of Los Angeles fashion, and some are open to a mix.
(Tip: It always helps to say who you are, and what you can do for them. In other words, if you own a blog or are active in social media, this is a good time to say it. Sometimes it just helps to come across as a friendly person who loves Los Angeles fashion!)
Remember to be polite and responsive; most people working at LA Fashion Week are doing so out of love for the Los Angeles fashion community, have hundreds of emails to respond to, and appreciate your courtesy. Being quick to respond to questions with a friendly attitude makes their job a lot easier. It also helps to understand most locations will offer a “+1″, but rarely a “+7″!
If you own a blog or are active in social media, let them know.
How To ParticipateLos Angeles Fashion Week thrives on people who write about shows!
So be sure to mention the designer’s name when you post pictures on social media: it’ll mean more invites!
Own a blog? Have a good following on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook? Be sure to write about the shows you attend. Then post the story on the producer’s social media accounts, or email them letting them know you posted something.
Although celebrities, models and glamour are a big part of LA Fashion Week, its lifeblood is press for the hard-working designers who spent countless hours designing and perfecting their looks for you, their beloved audience.
The lifeblood of LA Fashion Week is designers, who need the buzz you create!
So always be sure to tell people about the show you saw, and mention the designer’s name whenever posting pictures. They’ll love you for it, and it will mean more invitations next season.
